I gladly sail this ship!! Even Jo has hinted about this pairing! They have classic tension and they compliment each other so well.

Oh yes, I love this ship too, and have been proud sailing it ever since I first entered fandom. Although I've picked up a few additional boats along the way, this still remains my favorite.
Not only is their interaction is woven so well and subtlely by JKR, but also because of the tension between them. With that ship, anything could happen.

I know I'm one of a few who says, I can't stand this pairing. Ron and Hermione have nothing in common, and she is so beyond him that I think she sees it the same way. It is obvious Ron has a crush on her, but I do believe she doesn't feel the same for him. I believe Hermione needs a boy with spine, and Ron doesn't have that. I'm not sure I see her with Harry or Viktor, I'm not sure I'm seeing her with anyone we've met so far.
Also this teenage crushes usually don't last forever, so maybe there is a chance for the two of them, when they are older... so beyond book seven.

I disagree that Ron doesn't have a spine. He's been through a lot with Harry and has faced his darkest fear (Aragog) in the way many of us would- with unabashed terror. I like that about Ron, he doesn't pretend to be someone he isn't. It takes a brave soul and a person with a wonderful heart to withstand the things that Ron does in order to help Harry. He is a true friend and more family to Harry that his blood relatives are.
Although I adore Rupert in the role, I think movie!Ron has been relegated to this sort of idiot sidekick who wimpers at the drop of a hat and has the occassional witty retort. Sad really because Rupert is great and Ron is smarter than the movies have made him out to be.
Ron is not an idiot. He figure out the chessboard puzzle that they had to go through to in Philosopher's Stone. In fact, he is quite good at chess which means he's rather good at strategy.
I think he also is into Hermione because she is this sort of domineering female. What's the saying that men tend to marry someone who is like their Mom. (In my case I hope not- my Mother-in-law is not such a nice person) Much like Molly. Molly is not a know-it-all, but both Molly and Hermione don't take any guff from anyone. Both are very intelligent and both show a very sweet and vulnerable side to a select few.
I'm not sure what the future will hold for Ron and Hermione, it maybe one of the lasting pairings or one that is just in their teen years. But I like them together- simply because they're so opposite. Much better payoff when characters bicker before the romance begins. Look at Han Solo and Princess Leia....
Okay, I'm climbing off the Ron soapbox...

You actually made my point with Ron... only you see that as a good thing. The only thing Ron was ever good at is chess. He didn't face Aragog. He didn't even know what he was running into, and when he found out he whimpered.
But I have to say that I don't like Ron in the slightest, so there is nothing you could say to make me see him happy. I never liked him in the first place, because to me he is a sidekick, no matter if in the books or the movies. There are a lot of things I could point out, but the moment I started to hate him was in GoF, when he mobbed Harry for being a champion, even though he KNEW it wasn't Harry's fault. To point that out, he left Harry, when he needed him the most. That is not what good friends do.

I disagree with that highly think about as they said in the book Ron aways has to be under his other sister and brothers and then at school he under Harry I think alot of people would be mad then. And I don't think Harry needed him the most then, I think he need him most when he was fighting and when he Uncle was keeping him in that room but yet Ron broke his rules and came their for Harry. And I think Harry wasn't the one their for Ron, I mean because if he was really thier for Ron he would have knowen how he felt and would have been there for him. Also Ron the one who will stand up for Hermione when she needs someone even when Harry wouldn't and Hermione will stand up for Ron. Their there for eachother even if the fight they be there for eachother.
